| | I am struggling with the question "How are you?" these days. I want to say we are doing well -- because we are. I want to say we are having a hard time -- because, at times, we are.
I am thankful. Thankful for God's many gifts to me: my husband, our children, our families, our extended church community, friends and neighbors. Everyone has been so good to us.
Thank you for the cards, shared verses, books, phone calls, meals, stuffed animals, counsel, CD's, and love. Thank you for your prayers. Thank you for coming to the funeral.
My first Sunday back at church I was stopped at the door by a young bachelor who raises chickens and cows in our church. "I have two frozen chickens and a roast in the freezer for you," he said, "I didn't think you would want me to cook them."
Another bachelor friend occasionally drops by at 9:30 or 10pm to cheer us up with his bad puns and let us know he is praying for us.
Being on the receiving end of all of this has helped me realize that doing what you can for people who are hurting, no matter what that is, does matter. A good lesson for me who tends to delay waiting for the right thing to say, do or give.
I am thankful to know this isn't random bad luck.
We are leaning on Him.
